Last week, I went to Maryland for a couple days and was invited to come to one of the Mount St. Joseph workouts in Baltimore. On the way there, I had no idea what to expect. I didn't know how the level of play there was, but I wasn't worried too much. I was confident that I'd make it through the workout, and show the coaches what I'm capable of. The moment, I walked through the gym doors, I realized I was one of the first kids there so I slipped my shoes on and began to warm up. As time went by, the gym began to fill up and was relieved to see kids my age. Who knows, they could have all been much older than me. When practice started, I was introduced to the team and we go right to work. Since I'd been working out with my dad, the drills didn't seem as hard and tiring as I thought. I worked extra hard to impress the coaches, trying to hustle the most in each drill. As far as I knew, everything was going well. I even made some freshman friends on the side. Towards the end of the practice, we scrimmaged. The first game, coach put me on the team with their top varsity players which made it a lot easier for me. They knew how to set me up for an open shot, and would rarely ball-hog. Even though I didn't score that much, I still played hard on both ends of the floor, and in the end I'd have to say it was all worth it. The last scrimmage game, I stepped up my game scoring an easy 6 points even though we lost the game. At the end of the workout, the coach told my parents that they were very impresses and invited me to come to their day camp starting next week. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go to the day camp but it was all worth the trip because I made a name for myself in Baltimore and impressed the coaches at a very good high school.
#ballislife, as you may already assume. i love everything about it. i have #BIG dreams to fulfill, and i aspire to fulfill them with whatever it takes.
